ALI
Owner, Creator, Professional Dog Lover
I can’t imagine what my life would be like without the company of animals, and the thing is, I can’t remember ever not feeling this way. Growing up, I always knew that I was destined to work with animals in some way, shape, or form. Some people describe themselves as either a dog person or a cat person. I am definitely both.
From a young age, I made it my mission to rescue anything that I could - baby birds, injured turtles, frogs, even the tadpoles my uncle kept in a bucket to use as fishing bait, you name it. I was deeply fascinated by everything in the animal kingdom. As an adult, I still have an inherent desire to be outdoors in nature, in the presence of animals. I am eternally grateful that I grew up surrounded by a family of animal lovers, and throughout my childhood we had numerous family pets. One of the most special to me, was my very first dog, Mozie. She was a sweet, gentle, food driven Beagle Hound mix that we rescued from a local shelter. She was around 3 when she came to us, and though she had a beautiful soul with a heart of gold, she had the recall of.. well a Beagle. I can vividly recall taking her out for walks as a little girl and being dragged along… the classic “I didn’t walk her.. she walked me” scenario! Over the years, Mozie would take off on us several times in pursuit of a scent, and for that reason she was limited to a life of walks on leash. I still hold intense memories of frantically chasing her down the street for blocks, unsuccessfully shouting her name.. she never did turn around and run back. There are times now, that I look back at these events with little bits of regret. I wish I had the knowledge then, to give her the life of off leash freedom, and adventure that she deserved.
My struggles and experiences of the past are ultimately, what led me to pursue a greater knowledge of dog training, and a career in the pet care industry. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Mozie, the challenging family dog that gave me a true passion for working with and truly understanding canine behavior. I have since worked with hundreds of dogs, and each and every one of them has taught me something different. I am constantly looking to further my education in the dog training world.. and I will never stop learning. Helping people and their dogs build fulfilling relationships, has become a mission of mine. It is my goal to become the best learner, translator, and companion that I can be for our four legged friends.

CASSIDY (AND her trusty sidekick Melon)
Managing Pack Leader
Cassidy was born and raised on Vancouver Island, where she spent her childhood exploring the outdoors, camping and fishing with her Dad. Growing up, she wasn’t certain about her career path. However, Cassidy’s optimistic outlook led her to finding her dream job when she was least expecting it! After graduating from high-school, Cassidy eagerly applied to a local dog daycare, where she discovered her love for canines. She quickly advanced to becoming a Manager with the company. Cassidy particularly found her passion working with reactive dogs after she rescued her pup, Melon. She strived to create a safe space for Melon to socialize and make friends without fear. Cassidy has a deep love and understanding for all dogs, and takes pride in being adaptable to their unique needs and personalities. She is an extraordinary leader, who constantly aims to enhance her skills and provide dogs with calm and compassionate care. Beyond her work, Cassidy loves to explore hidden gems around the island with Melon. She can’t wait to love your four-legged best friend just as much as you do!
MadDY
Pack Leader
Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Maddy has always been passionate about spending her time in the great outdoors. Some of her favorite things in life are long road trips, ocean swims and forest jaunts with her dog Ozzie! Maddy has a diverse animal-centric background, which includes working at a wildlife rehabilitation centre in Costa Rica. From waking up at 3am to feed pygmy owls with broken wings (oddly common), to playing broom tug-of-war with a monkey while she tried to sweep, and mending the broken enclosure of some mango-loving racoons.. the experiences that she gained sent her down a path to exploring how to care for animals on a deeper more meaningful level. Her inspiring ability to connect with dogs, cats, and everything in between has made her a wonderful asset to our team at Van Island Pups, and we’re sure you and your four-legged family member will feel the same!
Lotti
Pack Leader
Growing up on Vancouver Island, Lotti spent most of her childhood exploring the outdoors. From an early age, she found her “happy place” in nature, surrounded by animals. This led her to adopting parrots, volunteering at a turtle sanctuary, and working on a horse farm in Costa Rica. Before joining Van Island Pups, Lotti was a pack leader with Peak Dog and also the assistant manager at a local dog daycare. Her positivity, knowledge and decade of experience working with all types of animals makes her a crucial member of our team. Lotti has a knack for connecting with dogs, making sure they feel safe and comfortable out on hikes. When she’s not adventuring with the pups, Lotti has a passion for photography, capturing breathtaking images of natural landscapes and moments with her friends. She enjoys poetry, tending to her growing plant collection, handmade pottery, listening to a variety of music genres, and refurbishing old furniture. Lotti can’t wait to use her talents to capture photos of your furry companions during their adventures!

Kerry
Hi there! My name is Kaide. I just recently moved to the island from Vancouver. I spent my adolescence in Florida with my family and childhood dog Daisy, a beautiful loving and sweet golden retriever. From a young age I’ve always loved animals and anything to do with nature. I'm a very active individual and I spend as much time outdoors as possible. I moved back to Canada in 2013 to follow my childhood dream of playing college softball. After my softball career was over I decided to follow my passion for food, becoming a pretty well known vegan chef in Vancouver over the last 10 years. Food has always been a place of gathering and community for me. My philosophy while taking care of animals is to treat them like my own. That means endless amounts of love and all the care you can imagine. I'm excited to be joining the team at Van Island Pups.
